Pike’s Peak and the Fear of the Lord

Pike’s Peak and the Fear of the Lord

Our air conditioner stopped working about half way up. At that point, our drive had been full of hearty laughter, proper hydration, and beautiful pine trees. We were on our way to the top of Pike's Peak, one of the tallest mountains in continental America. My good...

the satisfied soul

the satisfied soul

The satisfied soul is secure when all is shaking. It is full when it gives, it is grateful when it serves, it is a peace when worry’s cold fingers begin to close in around your heart. Because the satisfied soul knows this: the One in whom all strength, power, and love flows will never change and will never leave.

wonder

I’m realizing that if God brought me to the mountains just to teach me how to say wow, than maybe he has brought me into my friends lives for that, too. Yes, I know “iron sharpens iron.” I think most of us have gotten pretty good at that. Especially in church. But that cannot be the only reason he designed the beauty of friendships, families, and communities. Maybe it isn’t even the primary reason.

t’s the ability of Jesus to break the laws of nature that really blows our minds. Let me be real with you: I’m unashamedly fascinated with miracles. They aren’t the end of themselves, absolutely. The One they point to far surpasses their value because this One is the God of the Universe who spoke life into existence. Miracles are just this One continuing to rewrite it’s laws.

Dry Ground.

Dry Ground.

Last year I had the opportunity to drive through Nevada, Southern California, and Arizona. While I did find the surroundings beautiful, I definitely would not want to try farming out there. The ground could have all the right nutrients that it needs for vegetation but without water, few plants of value can grow. All living things need water to live.

A Few Thoughts on the D-word | March 2020

A Few Thoughts on the D-word | March 2020

A lot of news articles, a lot of briefings, a lot of fear, and, more than we realize, a lot of--I'm going to say it--disappointment has flooded our minds over the last few weeks. The Lord took me on a journey a few nights ago and I want to share it with you today.It...

Love Takes Time

Love Takes Time

You know what I think? Busyness has to go. We need to become people who spend intentional, unhurried time with God and with each other. Our schedule need to reflect that truth that love takes time.  We all know it’s true. We’ve seen it play out in our...

January 18th

January 18th

I wrote this during my time in Uganda. I titled this note "Today was another day I'll never forget." It truly was one of the most wildly awesome days I've ever lived. " Today I saw the Kingdom come to Adwari, Uganda. I got to preach this morning in a little church in...

Two. Four. Seven. Unceasing encounter, unending worship. For those not satisfied with weekend services or comfortable schedules; for those who want to make earth look like heaven; for those who want to be spent for their Lover. Two. Four. Seven. It’s a...

Wise or foolish? A study of heavenly wisdom…

Wise or foolish? A study of heavenly wisdom…

After I recently finished reading through Acts, I asked God I should read next. He told me to read Proverbs. Little back story. I’ve become increasing aware of the gap between heavenly wisdom and earthly wisdom. What I’m about to share might get on your toes but...

the story of a gatekeeper

the story of a gatekeeper

I've recently been drawn into imagining the mystery of David's Tabernacle. You can read several descriptions in 2nd Samual 6 and 1 Chronicles 16. You can also learn a lot by reading David's heart for the Presence of God in the Psalms. It's a fascinating study......

[my story part 1: the journey out]

[my story part 1: the journey out]

I invited Jesus into my life when I was six years old. I met him when I was seventeen. My name is Tim Ornelas and this is my journey out of fear. I was raised in a Christian home, full of joy and hymns and bible reading plans. I never doubted my parents loved me or...

The stories of sons.... "I was sitting at a table in Panera's when this person with a hoodie walked past and sat down behind me.  As Tim says, God is speaking to the people on your right and left, so I asked the Lord,  "do You have a word for him?" "compassionate,...

Sons that Share

Sons that Share

The dust begins to settle as we take our seats under the shade of an old fig tree. We just witnessed Jesus raise a small girl from the dead, heal a woman with a flow of blood, give sight to two blind men and cast a demon out of another. Even though it is a daily...

good gifts from a good father

good gifts from a good father

We began to walk out of the stadium to catch our Uber to the airport. The Orlando air was sticky and my body was covered in sweat. My sister, her friend, and I were leaving the packed Camping World Stadium. My sister's friend was walking with a noticeable limp. She...

Ache. My eyes snap open and I see A world of pain without hope of change The brutality of the black sea Chokes the songs of beauty I see the tears of victims running Running running running down Faces twisted in anguish bodies burning Hate fear and greed are...
